Euclid and three line segments
Three line segments pleaded to Euclid.
The first asked for its endpoints to be connected; Euclid obliged.
Having now become a circle, they rolled away: desultory.
The second asked to have one of its endpoints removed; Euclid obliged.
Having now become a point, they remain forever: desolate.
The third asked for one more endpoint; Euclid obliged.
Having now become a triangle, they become stable: free.
